Session Recap

Struggling against wakefulness can deepen the sense of being trapped, much like fighting against quicksand. Frustration about sleep can lead to more monitoring, effort and problem-solving. When these attempts fail, the pressure to try even harder may increase.

Thoughts about sleep can connect with emotions and physical sensations such as tension, heat, numbness or changes in breathing. ACT develops skills for dropping unnecessary struggle, returning to the present and investing energy in meaningful areas of life.
