Sleep is not an action we can perform or complete. It belongs to “being mode”, where the body is allowed to settle without being pushed towards an outcome.

When sleeplessness feels uncomfortable, the mind often switches into doing mode: checking, calculating, researching or trying another solution. These reactions can happen automatically before we consciously choose them.
