Does knowing, that waking during the night can mark the end of a normal sleep cycle, change how you interpret it as not a sign that anything's gone wrong?

02

REM sleep increases later

REM periods generally become longer as the night progresses and are associated with dreaming and emotional processing. A night does not need to consist mainly of deep sleep to be restorative.

Sleep trackers only provide estimates

Consumer watches infer sleep stages from signals such as movement and heart rate; they do not directly measure brain activity like clinical sleep equipment. Treating their stage totals as precise recordings can create unnecessary anxiety about otherwise normal sleep.
